What are words?

The 26-year-old aspiring singer from Illinois was engaged to marry Juliana Ramos, his longtime girlfriend, in December 2009. But two months before they were supposed to walk down the aisle, Juliana was involved in a major car accident. Tragically, the crash left her partially paralyzed and caused traumatic brain injuries. Medina continued on with her, not only as her fiancee but now as her primary caretaker. And he didn't give up singing.

Todd and Christina’s Love Story

I am very excited for the first story sent in to smile.a.sweet.love.story@gmail.com! So here it is and enjoy a wonderful story and some great advice from Todd and Christina! :)

Our story begins on a rare sunny day at the Oregon beach. A 19-year-old girl, home from her freshman
year at Brigham Young University, had unknowingly caught the attention of a young man from her
church. For weeks he had been harboring a crush on her that developed the first time he saw her play
the piano. The sunny day at the beach seemed like the perfect time to get to know her better, so an
intense and flirtatious game of volleyball began. The girl, who can be rather clueless at first to these
kinds of things, had a great time, but would have never guessed that two months later that boy would
follow her to Utah and begin their courtship.

Meet the Boy:

How did you know that your wife was ‘the one?’

I flipped a coin. I decided if it was heads, that she was the one. If it was tails, then I had to move
on. I didn’t have a coin. I knew that she was the one because she was always dressed modestly yet
attractively. Once I saw that she dressed modestly, I saw that she respected her own self worth and that
she had confidence.

What stood out to you most about your wife?

The thing that stood out most to me was of course her modest dress but also her smile and eyes. I’m
a sucker for eyes. I hate to admit it. Her smile complimented everything else and I felt like a million
bucks, and I didn’t even know her yet other than her name. I think I had to pinch myself to make sure it
wasn’t just a dream where I had been punked.

How do you express your love to your wife?

I try to put her first in everything. I put her first before my own desires. I express my love through
actions. I clean and cook when I can. She is a wonderful person and she deserves to be put on the top
of my priority list. I would say that true love is doing things not just for the other person but rather
doing them because you genuinely care and you want the other person to be happy.

Meet the Girl:

When was the first time that you knew with as surety that your husband cared for you?

Before moving to Utah from his home in Oregon, Todd came to visit me. At the time I was still kind of
unsure as to what was going on and if he “liked” me or not. He stopped by with some friends, and we
went on a walk and talked. The couple hours we had went by so fast, and when it was time for him to
leave I was anxious that I wouldn’t see him again that weekend before he went back home. He gave me
a hug good bye, and I was left still completely unsure as to what was going on. Then an hour later I got

a text that said “I miss you.” I told him that I missed him too, and then he sent me another text. “Then
I’m going to come back to see you on Sunday, alone.” That’s when I knew he cared for me. So girls, be
patient! It’s worth it!

What is one thing you do for your husband because you love him?

We have a white board on our fridge where we leave notes for each other. I also like to surprise him by
making him breakfast or lunch. I try to always thank him for the things he does for me and never let a
day go by without saying I love you.

How did you come to know that your husband was the “right one” for you?

He was tall, dark and handsome… and played the piano. I never had any misgivings about Todd. There
was nothing I felt needed to be changed about him. He was patient, caring, had similar goals as I did and
always treated me with respect. We could talk about anything and everything. He’s my best friend.

Being Mindful....

“True love is not so much a matter of romance as it is a matter of anxious concern for the well-being of one's companion.”  -This is a quote from Gordon B. Hinckley a prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Love Never Fails

Love Is Patient,
Love Is Kind.
It Does Not Envy,
It Does Not Boast,
It is Not Proud.
It Is Not Rude,
It Is Not Self-Seeking,
It Is Not Easily Angered,
It Keeps No Record of Wrongs.
Love Does Not Delight In Evil,
But Rejoices With The Truth.
It Always Protects,
Always Trusts,
Always Hopes,
Always Perseveres.

Love Never Fails.

Love Comes From Friendship. And It's the Small Things That Count........ As Shown By Carl and Ellie

Love comes from friendship!
Watch the clip :)

And also, remember at the end of the movie when Carl is feeling sad about never taking Ellie on the adventure to Paradise Falls, and he opens this book and finds......
"Thanks for the Adventure, now go have a new one."  Turns out that her greatest adventure was time with the person she loved.  It's the seemingly small things in life, that are really the biggest and the greatest!

What Makes A Blog About Love So Special?

Well let me tell you! :)  Love is something we all relate to!  And as I've been thinking about love,  I realized that in today's world love is often mixed up and misconstrued into lust.  I don't want love to become a lost virtue, so here in a small way I just want to just remind everyone of what they already know! Love is friendship, Love is Trust, Love is Patient and Kind. And no matter who you love, a husband, a wife, a child, a boyfriend, a best friend, a parent, yourself..... It's about the small things, and being grateful for every moment!

Love Yourself By Setting A Standard For Yourself

I believe in pink, I believe that laughing is the best calorie burner. I believe in kissing, kissing a lot.  I believe that happy girls are the prettiest girls.  I believe that tomorrow is another day, and I believe in miracles."
- Audrey Hepburn
